Alpinestars Tech-Air® MX Airbag System
Multiple Riding Modes
Tech-Air® MX includes the standard “MX Mode” designed for outdoor motocross tracks. Two customizable modes (MY RIDE 1 and MY RIDE 2) allow you to personalize settings via the Tech-Air® App, choosing from MX Race, Enduro, and Rally algorithms. Riders can switch modes quickly using the LED Display or the App.
MX / MX RACE Crash Detection Algorithm
Developed using thousands of hours of MX riding data and tested by pro riders across MXGP, AMA MX, and Supercross, the MX and MX Race algorithms identify dangerous crashes while filtering out normal MX riding movements.
Active Airbag Protection
When a crash is detected, the airbag inflates in an average of 40ms (size-dependent), providing class-leading protection across the chest, shoulders, and back.
System Versatility
Tech-Air® MX can be worn under or over any properly fitted apparel that allows clearance for airbag inflation.
Single Inflator Deployment
The system uses one gas inflator per deployment. After inflation, the inflator must be replaced. Quick-release panels allow fast replacement where regulations permit.
Battery Life
Up to 30 hours of use on a full charge.
Recharge time is approx. 4 hours (1 hour = ~8 hours of ride time).
Quick-Release Cover
Designed for easy gas inflator access and fast replacement.
Activation / Deactivation
To activate the system, simply attach the left buckle of the chest protector. A magnetic switch automatically powers the system on. Unbuckle to deactivate.
Neck Brace Notice
Alpinestars advises against wearing a neck brace with any Tech-Air® system. When inflated, the airbag stabilizes the head and neck—limiting flexion, extension, and helmet-to-collarbone contact—only when needed, while preserving normal movement during riding.

Riding Modes
MX Mode
Optimized for traditional outdoor motocross—natural terrain, sand, dirt, mud, ruts, jumps, berms, and uneven surfaces. Also suitable for Supercross tracks with tight corners, technical jumps, and whoops.
MX Race Mode
A more selective activation mode designed for competitive events. Reduces deployment from minor incidents such as low-speed tip-overs to preserve protection for serious crashes—ideal when replacing the inflator mid-race isn’t possible.
